Specification:

By the late 90s there was  growing concern over the electrical components of the organ, in particular the Ellen Dynamic Transmission unit, which connected the console to the organ by one single co-axial wire. This system had been one of the first to have been fitted to an organ in 1982 and it was beginning to become unreliable. As the rest of the instrument was in fine condition, the PCC decided to replace the transmission system and at the same

time make certain improvements to the instrument.  A set of Oboe pipes had been acquired by the organist, Mr.Graham Stockwell, from an old instrument at Newport and these were fitted in the Swell Box. The swell shutters had lacked sensitivity, having had only three positions. This was improved to sixteen positions. The number of pistons was increased from six to eight per division (plus 0 cancel pistons) and the memories were increased from two to thirty. The general pistons were also increased to eight, running off thirty levels of memory, giving rise to a sequencer with two hundred and forty settings. All pistons can be programmed and each level of memory can be locked or left open. A number of other repairs and adjustments were made. The work was carried out by Michael Farley, from Devon, at an approximate cost of £20,000.
